Who We Are About Larry

Know the truth about your home's real value

VOL America equips homeowners with the information you need to make sound financial decisions about your home and your future. Just as you know how much your stocks are worth, you should know the value of the investment you live in too. That's where we come in, with our affordable [reports].

The history of VOL America...
In 1994, we developed Value On-Line software, one of the first automated valuation models (AVMs). Realizing that most people in the home appraisal industry worked without any collaboration or sharing of information, we set out to develop a way to build a database of information and enable appraisers to draw forth conclusions based on that data, rather than having to start all over with each new property. We created a revolutionary new software product that made an enormous contribution to the field. Our AVM has since been used by financial institutions throughout the U.S. for estimating home values.

The field of AVM technology continues to evolve, and VOL America continues to stay on the cutting-edge of the industry by joining the AVM numbers with three radial sets of data. For example our VOL software uses a radial system of applying data at 1 mile intervals from you home. This means you receive three value estimates that used these distances to capture your precise neighborhood influence on values. And it's this revolutionary software that we use in estimating your home's present value. We've also added [applied behavioral science (ABS)] theories to our system to gage the cost benefits of home improvements. So you can estimate your return on investment before you spend the money.

...and in the future
We're looking forward too and realizing that not all home improvements have universal appeal and market value. So we're breaking new ground again as we develop an evaluation category we call "personal preferences." Personal preferences are those modifications that you as the homeowner appreciate and enjoy, but that might not add market value. Landscaping is a perfect example: You might spend $30,000 to beautify your yard, yet not get any return on that investment when you sell your home. To help you determine what will and won't increase your property value, we're building the nation's first Personal Preferences database.

Toolbox Tips
Applied behavioral science (ABS): ABS is the study of systems and sub systems that interact within themselves and link to other systems. These self-organizing systems evolve by both internal and external feedback. Systems theory can serve as a framework for understanding relationships between communities, organizations, groups and individuals with an emphasis on change.
